Lieke works as a lecturer at the Radboud Teacher Academy. She teaches subjects including pedagogy and professional development. Since 2020, she has been the program coordinator of the Educational Minor and Educational Module. In addition, she is involved in teacher professionalization at various secondary schools, particularly in the areas of differentiation and metacognition.
In 2023, she earned her PhD on didactic differentiation in secondary education. The title of her dissertation was: Secondary school teachers’ instructional adaptations: Perceiving and addressing students’ various learner characteristics in daily practice.Her research interests focus on exploring the practices of teachers in secondary education and how variation between (individual) students plays a role within those practices. She is involved as a postdoctoral researcher in the NRO-funded research project ‘From Broader to Better’ – a study on differentiation in detracked classes in secondary education. For this project, she works at the Faculty of Social Sciences with the Behavioural Science institute.
She is also active in an Erasmus+ project: Equity and Diversity in Teacher Educator Development (ED-TED). This initiative aims to strengthen an international network of teacher educators focused on the professional development of teacher educators and teacher education programs in preparing future teachers for diversity and inclusive education.
