Elke de Jong is is a graduate of the Medical School of the University Medical Centre St Radboud, Nijmegen, The Netherlands and completed her dermatology residency in the same hospital. The department has a strong focus on psoriasis research. She was head of the out-patient department during 20 years. She is the author or co-author of approximately 200 publications and guided or assisted 19 research fellows in composing their thesis. Her main research topic in dermatology is psoriasis and autoimmune disease. Especially efficacy and safety of systemic treatments for psoriasis are her interest, and she established since 2005 a continuous registry on biologic treatment in daily practice for psoriasis. She has experience with over 100 studies.
She has served among others as board member and secretary of the National Board of the Dutch Association of Dermatologists (NVDV), as member and treasurer of the board of the Dutch and Belgian CME Dermatology and Venereology (SNNDV), is president of the national advisory board for immunodermatoses, and was involved in the development of national guideline vasculitis and national and European guidelines systemic treatment of psoriasis. Since 2016 she is appointed as Professor of Inflammatory skin diseases at the Radboud University Nijmegen. Since 2019 she is appointed als Head of the Department of Dermatologie of Radboudumc.
