Francis obtained her bachelor’s degree in History of Art at the Radboud University and her master’s degree in Art, Market and Connoisseurship at the VU Amsterdam. During both degrees she has focused her research on the patronage of individuals and religious institutions in early modern Italy. As a PhD candidate at the Radboud University, she is now researching the significance of the visual arts in early modern Clarissan convents in Northern Italy. She takes a particular interest in the devotional function of artworks and the involvement of noble women in the establishment and reform of Clarissan communities.
