Roy Kessels is professor of neuropsychology in the Department of Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology and clinical neuropsychologist at Vincent van Gogh Institute for Psychiatry, His research focuses on human memory function, notably the interaction of working memory and episodic memory, implicit learning, neuropsychological assessment, and cognitive rehabilitation. Moreover, he examines memory deficits in brain disease, such as MCI, dementia, stroke and alcohol-related cognitive disorders, including Korsakoff's syndrome. He uses various methods, such as structural and functional MRI and experimental psychology, and collaborates with various clinical disciplines (neurology, geriatrics, and psychiatry). He is member of many scientific advisory boards, e.g. the SAB of the Federation of European Societies of Neuropsychology and Alzheimer Nederland.
