My work critically investigates urban transformations through the intersection of land management, urban policy, and socio-environmental justice. A unifying theme in my work is the investigation how institutional frameworks shape, enable, or hinder urban transformations, providing a comprehensive perspective on the planning mechanisms needed to secure the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) amid fiscal and ecological pressures. This research includes the analyses of land-based financing instruments, participatory land policies, and the use of new tools in the planning and design process.
Previous to my position at Radboud University, I worked as an Associate Professor at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, as a Visiting Professor at the University of Seoul, and held visiting teaching positions at Goethe Universität Frankfurt and Hamburg University.
