Prof. J.H.J.M. van Krieken (Han)

Van Krieken has been affliated with Radboud University since 1999, first as Professor of Tumour Pathology, and since 2004 as Professor of Pathology. In 2009, he was appointed Chair of the Radboud University Centre for Oncology, which, over the last few years and under his direction, has established itself as a leading international institute in the field. He has also been president of the European Society of Pathology (2013-2015), managing editor of Virchows Archiv (2010-2015) and chief editor of the Journal of Hematopathology (2007-2017). He still is chief editor of the Encyclopedia of Pathology and the Textbook Oncology. Before he came to Nijmegen, he worked for institutes including the National Cancer Institute Bethesda (USA), Institut für Pathologie in Kiel (Germany) and Leiden University Medical Center. Han van Krieken was Radboud University’s Rector Magnificus As of 19 May 2016.

International
Van Krieken is also involved with various national and international forums. In 2011, he joined the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and in 2014 the Academia Europaea. He is also an honorary member of the Royal College of Pathology. Van Krieken was named as one of the 100 influential pathologists worldwide in 2019 by the international medical journal The Pathologist in their Top 100 Power List.
