His research concerns the impact of invasive alien species and multiple physicochemical stressors on biodiversity and functioning of aquatic ecosystems (rivers, floodplains, moorland pools, peat bogs and urban waters). Research activities particularly focus on biological invasion processes, including dispersal patterns, population establishment success, physiological tolerances and biological traits of aquatic invaders, risk assessment of exotic species, effects of climate change on global redistribution of species, ecological and socio-economic impacts of aquatic invaders, and management of invasive species.
