Sebastian Lücker is investigating the potential applications of new microorganisms in protecting our supply of clean water, a highly socially relevant and urgent issue of our time. An expert in ecological microbiology, he focuses on developing and applying molecular, cultivation-independent methods to study environmentally relevant microorganisms. Together with his team, he uses advanced enrichment techniques and metagenomics to gain insight into the physiological potential, composition, and possible interactions of complex microbial communities.
