My expertise is the handling of spectroscopic data from which I extract useful chemical information. Sometimes I collect such spectroscopic data myself, for example with handheld devices or with a hyperspectral camera.
What motivates me is the creation and deployment of chemometric models in industrial applications. However, such models often fail after a period of time due to unforeseen sources of variation in the industrial process. My current research focusses on creating chemometric methods which are more robust against these sources of variation so that minimal intervention is needed during the industrial operations. This research will ultimately increase the value of chemometric methods by increasing industrial sustainability and decreasing operational costs.
