Prof. E.W. Meijer (Bert)

Professor Bert Meijer is one of the founders of macro organic chemistry, which focuses on relatively large molecular structures. His research concerns the design, synthesis and characterization of such structures. He also explores their application in, for example, physics, electronics, materials science and biomedical technology (biomaterials). Professor Meijer is also a professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He has received various scientific awards, including the Arthur K. Doolittle Award from the American Chemical Society in 1995 and the Dutch Spinoza Prize in 2001. He is chairman of the Chemical Sciences division of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research.
