Humans excel in understanding spoken language, performing with greater accuracy than artificial intelligences. My research is dedicated to the overarching question of which cognitive processes are involved in human speech recognition. A particular focus of my research is the extent to which human listeners possess knowledge of a word's morphology, that is, the internal structure of the word. My methodologies involve the development and testing of computational models that attempt to mimic human cognition, as well as the statistical analysis of large datasets.
