Dr J. Nijenhuis-Voogt (Jacqueline)

As a computer science teacher educator, I focus on educating and supervising (prospective) computer science teachers. I believe it is important that students not only develop subject-specific knowledge, but also form their own vision of good, future-oriented computer science education.

In April 2022, I defended my dissertation, “Algorithms in Context - Teacher knowledge and student learning in secondary computer science education,” in which I researched teaching algorithms. With this background, I bring broad expertise in both computer science and research methods, which I use to guide students in their practical research.

I have collaborated on the project ‘Computational Thinking in Context’, which focuses on continuous learning pathways for computational thinking in primary and secondary education. This experience ties in with my research interests, which lie in digital literacy in primary and secondary education, education in the subject of computer science, and the role of AI in and for education.
