Fanny Opdenhoff is Assistant Professor of Archaeology and Cultural History of the Ancient Mediterranean at the University of Hamburg in Germany. From October 2022 to March 2024, she is Feodor Lynen Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Radboud Institute for Culture and History where she conducts research on the interaction between the local population of Herculaneum and Pompeii and the Roman emperor/ imperial family. Her research interests include the history and archaeology of Pompeii and Herculaneum, practices of writing, the presentation and perception of inscriptions, and visual culture studies.
