My research provides new insights in individual and group differences in youths’ socio-emotional functioning in their online and offline social world. Specifically, I am interested in how youths’ social connectedness and peer relationships, psychosocial functioning, and involvement in bullying are influenced by their individual characteristics and social peer context. In order to get more insight in youth’s development, I am conducting research at different time intervals, ranging from multiple assessments per day to assessments across multiple years. To unravel the underlying mechanisms of youths’ development, I am using paradigms that are innovative within my field, such as experience sampling, data donations, peer nominations, person-specific methods, and advanced longitudinal data-analysis techniques.
