Ina Radtke’s research sits at the intersection of organizational theory and critical social analysis, exploring the vital link between democratic legitimacy and the transformation of public organizations. She investigates the tensions between institutionalized power structures and the transformative agency of both state actors and diverse publics, with a particular focus on how marginalized and unorganized interests are represented and negotiated within the executive.
At its core, her work is driven by a quest for collective emancipation: How can we rethink public institutions and political collectives to foster relational resonance and substantive responsiveness? Her research addresses these questions through three thematic areas:
Migration and integration – Analyzing responsiveness and the mechanisms of exclusion and inclusion in a post-migrant state.
Governance dynamics – Exploring how technological and procedural developments impact institutional power and the potential for collective emancipation.
Democratic anchorage – Investigating the institutional preconditions for resonant, integrity-based politico-administrative systems.
