Gala is a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Dr. Richárd Bártfai, where she investigates epigenetic regulation of the malaria parasite. Her research focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms that govern chromatin maintenance and remodeling, while uncovering both conserved and parasite-specific components of these processes. By discovering and functionally characterising novel nuclear and chromatin-associated proteins, Gala deepens our understanding of the parasite biology and brings us closer to effective anti-malaria therapeutics.
Gala's expertise encompasses a wide range of molecular and -omics techniques, including stable gene editing of the malaria parasite, recombinant protein expression, interaction- and proximity-based proteomics, CUT&Tag and scRNA-seq, among others.
