Dr Emma Rengers is a postdoctoral researcher with Radboud University's iHub (Interdisciplinary Research Hub on Digitalization and Society). She obtained her doctorate from the University of Birmingham, after a Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics (PPLE) from the University of Amsterdam.
Emma's research focuses on the legal and ethical aspects of emerging technologies, including artifical intelligence. Her PhD dissertation concerned the use of computer vision technologies in law enforcement and its effects on the rule of law. Emma is a researcher in the 'ELSA Lab for Legal, Regulatory, and Policy Aspects of Clinical Decision Support Systems,' where she is part of an interdisciplinary team investigating the legal, ethical, and technical challenges around medical AI.
Before joining Radboud University, Emma taught a variety of modules on AI regulation, legal theory, and international law at the University of Birmingham, the London Interdisciplinary School, and the University of Amsterdam.
