Eva Rieter is senior researcher and lecturer specialized in public international law and (comparative) human rights law. She took her PhD with a study on provisional measures in international human rights adjudication. Previously she earned an LL.M at the University of Virginia and a Master degree at Maastricht University.
Eva's expertise is in the area of substantive remedies pending and following litigation; comparative regional human rights systems and follow-up to international judicial decisions; as to substantive international and comparative law her focus is on rights of detainees, human rights defenders and indigenous peoples; protection against torture, ill-treatment and death threats. She led the international expert group that developed the Nijmegen Principles and Guidelines on Interim Measures for the Protection of Human Rights. In 2021 Eva founded the Radboud Law Clinic https://www.radboudlawclinic1.org/ and was the academic coordinator in the first three years (clinical education matching academic research, teaching and service in the public interest, connecting Master students Dutch law and International and European law to civil society organisations).
She is academic liaison for Shelter City Nijmegen (a project facilitating a 3 month period of rest, respite, education and networking in Nijmegen for a human rights defender).
