Sebastian has obtained his PhD in Consumer Behavior in 2019 from the University of Groningen. Sebastian's research focuses on how consumers are steered in their judgment and decision-making by various subtle environmental cues such as primes or assortment structure. In his projects Sebastian demonstrates when the impact of such environmental cues becomes facilitated or rather inhibited depending on motivational states consumers experience.

In his most recent projects Sebastian explores the subtle nudge of language. More specifically, he identifies how and when subtle linguistic nudges help consumers make better, healthier choices or assist them in successful achievement of pursued goals.
