Professor Paul Sars, as a philosopher and Germanist, studies personal and cultural identity. His work includes articles on the Jewish poet Paul Celan and the German philosopher Martin Heidegger.
As a member of the board or directors, Professor Sars supports social organizations such as the Dutch Catholic television channel KRO, Pax Christi, the Dutch Catholic Sports Federation (NKS) and NCB in formulating their profile and identity.
