Professor Schalken carries out research on the molecular and cell biology of urological conditions, in particular oncological and functional defects in the urinary tract and genital organs. Particular attention is paid to translational research, such as molecular diagnostics of prostate, bladder and kidney cancer. New therapeutic targets are tested and validated in a cancer stem cell model.
