Dr C.L. Schleijpen (Carmen)

Carmen Schleijpen holds an LLB in European Law (cum laude, 2015) and an LLM in Dutch (Private) Law (cum laude, 2017) from Radboud University Nijmegen. During her LLM, she also studied in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2025, she obtained her PhD for her dissertation ‘Civil liability of arbitrators’.

Carmen has worked at the Department of Private Law of the Faculty of Law for several years. Since February 2025, Carmen is assistant professor at the department. She previously worked as a legal adviser at the Tijdelijke Commissie Mijnbouwschade in Groningen and the Instituut Mijnbouwschade Groningen.

She is interested in topics at the intersection of procedural law, in particular arbitration law, and the law of obligations.
