After having been employed by local authorities in the Netherlands as a policy researcher and a head of departments for research and statistics, I worked for the Association for German Municipalities (KGSt) and for the Dutch Local Government Association (VNG). Since 2002 I have been active as a self-employed organizational researcher, consultant and executive coach. In national and international contexts I supported organizations in structural and cultural change processes. Now, being retired, I want to join my two passions, urban geography and music, in my PhD project. By researching the atmospheric effects of musical interaction between performing musicians and the social and material artefacts in their environment I hope to be able to contribute to a further development of neo-phenomenological thinking in geography. Keywords: relational theories, neo-phenomenology, affective atmospheres, performing musicians.
