Professor Gerard van Solinge is an expert in the field of corporate law and specializes in corporate governance and corporate litigation. The corporate world has drafted behavioural codes for good corporate governance. Corporate boards are increasingly being called to account by the media and by investors through legal proceedings, in the wake of the mounting claims culture, with the increasing tendency among citizens and organizations to take legal action to claim damages. Corporate governance is the answer to this problem. He also carries out research into mergers and takeovers and the international aspects of corporate law.
Gerard van Solinge is the co-chair of the scientific board of the Van der Heijden Institute, the most established and largest study centre for corporate law in the Netherlands. The Institute is part of the Business & Law Research Centre, a research school recognized by the KNAW. In addition, he is an attorney with Allen & Overy in Amsterdam, (substitute) judge of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. Further, he is editor-in-chief of Ondernemingsrecht and advisory member of the Standing Company Law Commission in Curaçao.
