Judith Stoep works as a teacher, curriculum coördinator and liaison officer in Pedagogical Sciences and Educational Sciences. Her interest in the young child, language development and educational opportunities stems from the doctoral research she conducted on the development of reading skills in children from different socioeconomic backgrounds and the insight that that it makes sense to establish a solid foundation for language, literacy and communication skills in young children. Early childhood education (ECE) therefore has her attention, including topics such as language stimulation, emergent literacy, storybook reading, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), inclusive education and evidence-informed practice. She has also conducted practice-based research into interventions for speech, language and communication disorders. She uses her experiences in this field in issues in special and inclusive education. At the Expertise Center Dutch, she was the coordinator of several short-term NRO educational research projects on developmental language disorders (DLD) and Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) and the scientific coordinator of the Academic Workplace for Educational Opportunities in Arnhem/Nijmegen (WOAN). Currently, she is affiliated with Stichting OOK-OC! (part of Stichting Milo) as senior researcher and member of the research group for Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
