My passion lies in transforming complex data into practical insights that contribute to better healthcare, cleaner water, and more efficient industrial processes. Analytical chemistry focuses on collecting reliable chemical data at the right moment, by the right person. Chemometrics helps translate this data into valuable understanding of (bio)chemical processes.
In my research, I bridge these two disciplines by applying chemometric techniques in four key ways:
1. Identifying relevant variables to better describe processes and potentially replace existing methods with faster or more cost-effective alternatives.
2. Integrating high-frequency, low-quality sensor data with low-frequency, high-quality laboratory analyses.
3. Evaluating the added value of additional measurements within an analytical framework.
4. Ensuring the long-term reliability of predictive models.
Within chemometrics, I use AI to embed expert knowledge into machine learning models and to determine optimal setpoints for process control.
I am familiar with data from (flow) cytometry, microarrays, RNA-seq, LC/MS, GC/MS, MCC/IMS, NMR,(N)IR Spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Handheld Spectroscopy and process sensor data such as pH, conductivity, flow rate, pressure, and temperature.
