Koen van der Veer is Associate Professor of Monetary and Financial Policy (part-time) and Managing Advisor on poverty and debt issues at Purpose, a social consultancy firm. Previously, he worked as a Head of Department at De Nederlandsche Bank. Koen joined De Nederlandsche Bank in 2007 at the Economics and Research Division where he worked on monetary and macroeconomic policy in the period of the Global Financial Crisis, credit crisis and European sovereign debt crisis, and since 2015 on macroprudential policy at the Financial Stability Division. From 2016 to mid-2017, he was on secondment at the Financial Regulation Division of the European Central Bank. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the Radboud University Nijmegen, under the supervision of Professors Eelke de Jong and Andrew K. Rose (University of California, Berkeley).
