We apply a chemical biology approach to the bacterial resistance problem. We investigate the biochemical processes involved in resistance at a molecular level, and try to identify new pathways for drug interference. To this end, we develop small molecule probes and apply them to live cells to study the emergence of resistance, with a special focus on the role of RNA and DNA.
