My research aims to understand notions of truth and reliable in photographic discourses, specifically focussing on war- and conflictphotography. In my phd, defended at the University of Paris, I researched if and how documentary photography can still in today's skeptical world. Has the age of documentary photography ended, or is their still a future for these forms of visual journalism?
I publish on photography and visual culture in Aperture, Rekto Verso, Extra, Trigger, Streven, Katholiek Nieuwsblad, and other media, and regularly lecture on these and other topics. I am involved with projects on living with Alzheimer's, and as a photographer I follow political protest (notably in France). For words and images, see: www.wilcoversteeg.com
