Language, culture and identity form the core of Ilona Kónya’s teaching and research, particularly in relation to language acquisition and (intergenerational) language development.
As a lecturer and PhD candidate within the Applied Linguistics research group at the Department of Language and Communication, she teaches courses in language and communication and conducts research on breaking the cycle of intergenerational low literacy. The relationship between language, social context and identity formation is central to both her academic work and her societal engagement.
