Jet Wildeman is a PhD student of International Economics at the Nijmegen School of Management of Radboud University (Netherlands). In her PhD research, she studies socio-economic determinants of fertility behavior in sub-Saharan Africa.
Jet is particularly interested in understanding the relationship between changes in fertility behaviors and the developments in ICTs in sub-Saharan Africa, such as the increasing availability of mobile phone coverage. In her research, she uses various data sources, including survey, satellite, and digital trace data, to identify the underlying mechanisms that can explain fertility behaviors in the sub-Saharan Africa.
Jet is passionate about working with data. In addition to her research, she has been involved in maintaining the Global Data Lab's database. Jet is also driven to create compelling data visualizations that can effectively communicate her research findings to a broad audience.
