My PhD research involves a qualitative study on the difficulties Turkish-Dutch clients encounter in practitioner-client interactions in Dutch mental health care. The first part of my study explored the difficulties clients face in the general practitioner (GP) context, whereas my second study explored cultural differences in diagnosis and treatment perceptions of common mental disorders, with a focus on depression and ADHD. My last study focuses on the interplay of culture, religion and emotion playing a role in these difficulties.
