I investigate how to generate clonal seeds of tomato plants. Tomato reproduces sexually and thereby recombines the chromosomes from the sperm and egg cell. By studying the recombination of the chromosomes in tomato and in species that reproduce asexually, like the common dandelion, I aim to build a system in which tomato produces seeds that are genetically identical to the mother plant.
