Jan Julia Zurné is assistant professor in Political History at Radboud University in Nijmegen. Her main research interests are connected to the history of occupied Western Europe during the Second World War. Other areas of interest are crime and criminal justice history and Transitional Justice.
For her PhD thesis, she examined the reaction of the Belgian judiciary to violence by resistance groups during and directly following the Second World War. In 2020-2024 she conducted research on the prosecution of theft and shifting notions of criminality in the Netherlands during the Second World War.
