With students we are working on optimal use of existing grid measurement data. Alliander wants to know which direction energy is flowing through it’s grid, but only in a fraction of all the data they have this directly measured. The rest of the data is not giving this information. The hypothesis is that using time series, data of surroundings (for example wind generation) and physical laws it is possible to deduce this information from the already existing data. When Alliander knows the direction of energy they can better predications and therefore make better use of the capacity of the existing grid.
