Motivation

Educational practice at the university is characterised by an insular culture in which lecturers work in isolation from each other and rarely discuss educational questions with each other. The hierarchical and competitive atmosphere at faculties makes it difficult for lecturers to knock on each other's doors when they are struggling with something. In addition, teachers don't see each other when something is going well in education, which hinders inspiring each other and learning together. How can intervision break through this insular culture and get a permanent place in lecturer development at Radboud University?

Hypothesis

In order to promote lecturer development and well-being and to contribute to the transition from an insular culture to a feedback culture, it is good to offer intervision to lecturers. At other universities, the value of intervision for lecturers is also recognised. Annemarie wants to find out how intervision for lecturers can be given a permanent place at Radboud University.

Desired solution

Intervision is a structured form of group reflection in which colleagues share their practical experiences and reflect together using a conversation methodology. The goal is to gain insight into each other's actions, beliefs, feelings and values, and to discover new possibilities for action. This method creates an atmosphere of trust and strengthens bonds among colleagues. Annemarie aims to develop an intervision offer for lecturers at Radboud University, organised by the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC).

Plan of action

The project consists of four phases. To start with, Annemarie will map out a network of intervision practitioners at Radboud University and talk to them and colleagues from other universities who are involved in intervision. Subsequently, she investigates which form of intervision the TLC can best offer and develops this intervision method. After the intervision offer has been developed, she promotes this product by, among other things, giving a pitch to directors of education and by creating a news item and posters. Finally, the developed form of intervision is presented and transferred to the theme leader for lecturer development and well-being.

Funding

This project is funded by a TLC voucher from the Radboud Teaching and Learning Centre. This voucher programme aims to set up projects in the field of educational innovation, lecturer development and educational research.
