RadboudCSW introduces post-initial master's in gifted education and care

Radboud Centre for Social Sciences (RadboudCSW), part of Radboud University, will offer the new, part-time master's programme International Advanced Master in Gifted Education & Care from February 2026. With the master's, RadboudCSW aims to meet the need for scientific expertise in the field of gifted education and care in both practice and research fields.

The post-initial master's programme International Advanced Master in Gifted Education & Care (iamGE&C) is an in-depth programme for professionals holding a master's degree and working in education or (mental) health care. The English-language programme comprises an interdisciplinary approach to giftedness and focuses on education, support and care for children, adolescents and adults with characteristics of giftedness.

Training as scientist-practitioners

During the master's programme (36 months), participants bridge the gap between work in practice and scientific research, and are encouraged to publish their research in scientific journals. Upon completion of the programme, they receive an internationally accredited master's degree (MSc) and an ECHA qualification (MAS). As graduated ‘scientist-practitioners’, they are ultimately able to implement evidence-based methods, communicate effectively with stakeholders and thus make an impact in the public, professional and academic debate on gifted education and care. IamGE&C thus offers excellent career prospects for participants, for example as specialists or researchers.

Impact on the field

The master's programme meets the need of employers, such as schools, partnerships and healthcare institutions, to work in a more evidence-based way and develop a strong network in the field of giftedness. Graduates of iamGE&C are in this respect complementary to graduates of the already existing postgraduate giftedness programme Radboud International Training on High Ability (RITHA).

Programme Director Prof Lianne Hoogeveen: Both programmes involve you as a practice professional in research, but at iamGE&C the emphasis is on scientific practice. By working together from their own expertise, they contribute to sustainable embedding of knowledge about giftedness within the field and academia.
