AMID Leadership Programme
Are you a senior professional or policy maker working in international (development) cooperation and do you want your organisation to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals? This programme gives you the right tools to do so.
General
During 8 meetings you will learn how to increase your organisation's impact in the world of development cooperation. Together with other senior professionals and policy makers you will focus on increasing knowledge and skills around sustainable development. There is also room for your personal development as a leader.
The AMID Leadership Programme is part of AMID, the training institute of the Radboud University that focuses on international cooperation and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Upon completion of this course:
- You will have learned how to move your organisation from linear thinking to more adaptive programming. You will know how international development efforts have unintended effects and how to detect those of your own organisation by applying key insights from complexity thinking. You will learn this in part through best practices from other organisations;
- Have skills to detect your blind spots (and those of your organisation) in terms of what drives (or blocks) your organisation's development impact. You know how to disagree productively with donors and investors. You have also acquired tools to create a safe working environment (in a multicultural environment) for your employees, where they are rewarded for thinking out of the box;
- Has increased your courage and creativity in dealing with resistance from your board to a more open learning culture;
- Will you receive a proof of participation.

Programme
Structure of the course
The AMID Leadership Programme consists of 4 online meetings of 1.5 hours and 4 physical workshops in Utrecht/Nijmegen of 2.5 hours duration. Participants outside the Netherlands can participate in the physical workshops online.

Prof. dr. Dirk-Jan Koch
Lecturer Dirk-Jan Koch (1980) is associate professor of International Trade & Development Cooperation. He received his PhD (cum laude) from Radboud University in 2009, focusing on geographical choices of international development NGOs. He spent time in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Kenya, where he worked as regional director at Search for Common Ground, as a professor at the Catholic University of Kinshasa and as a diplomat of the Netherlands, among other positions.
What struck me is that while there are AMID programs for junior professionals in the international development sector, and also for lateral entrants, there are none for executives, managers, leaders and strategists in this sector. For them, we have developed a brand new program that focuses on their needs. I am very excited about the program because it is the first of its kind in the Netherlands. Participants will certainly learn a lot, especially from each other.
Willem Elbers
Lecturer Willem Elbers is deputy chief educator of AMID Young Professional. He is committed to bridging the gap between science and practice in the field of international cooperation and collaborates with various organizations. He is convinced that knowledge is the basis for improvement and innovation in international cooperation.

The cost of this course is € 2750 exempt from VAT. Alumni of Radboud University and RadboudCSW receive a 10% discount, as do employees of Radboud University and RadboudUMC. Prices are subject to change.
