Educational programmes

Would you like to learn how to contribute sustainably to a resilient society? Within our (BIG) programmes (BIG means: professions in individual healthcare), you will learn to look at professional practice and your field from a social scientific perspective. We offer plenty of room for individual choices.

Our vision of lifelong development

With us, you will not find one-size-fits-all education, but education in which you have ownership of your own learning. We use technology to personalise education and tailor it to your preferences and learning needs. This includes, for example, freedom of choice, such as deciding where and when you learn, at what pace, in what order and how. Our vision of learning has five pillars:

1. Blended education

In our education, the focus is not on classroom meetings, but on learning activities. You work on your learning objectives by completing a series of learning activities that take place alternately online and offline, both synchronously and asynchronously. The diversity of sources and resources and the alternation between individual (online) assignments and group activities accommodates different learning styles.

2. Practice as the starting point

Your practical experiences are the starting point. In our teaching programme, you work from actual cases, which match the requirements and expectations of professional practice.

3. Linking science and practice

The interaction between science and practice is essential in all our programmes. We always work from a scientific basis. Research and theory are linked to professional practice. You bring in your practical issues that you face in your daily work. This is how you learn to increase your impact in practice.

4. Active learning

The emphasis is on active learning, on deepening and understanding. Active working methods such as discussion, practical assignments, (self)reflection and group work encourage the linking of theory to your own experiences. You learn by actively mirroring theory with your practical experiences. There is plenty of room for questions in our teaching.

5. Collaborative learning

Personalised education certainly does not mean solitary! Our learning environment is set up for collaborative learning. Interaction between teacher and students and among students is at the heart of our education. A good mix between online and offline and formal and informal learning activities allows you to make the most of this interaction.
