Global Challenges Professional Programme (AMID)

Within this master's programme, professionals in a salaried position develop the skills to tackle global challenges responsibly. The programme brings together participants from business, NGOs, and government in an international learning environment. This unique mix stimulates profound cross-sector collaboration and strengthens your capacity to realise sustainable change.

Break boundaries, build bridges

The post-initial master's in Global Challenges develops strategic professionals who effectively tackle complex, global challenges. The programme focuses on issues in low- and middle-income countries and bridges development cooperation and sustainable business. NGOs, companies, and governments share their knowledge and networks, enabling participants to think across sectors, connect stakeholders, and create sustainable solutions.

A hands-On programme

Participants work four days per week at an organisation where they directly apply their new knowledge, and reflect one day per week at Radboud University. This way, they combine practical experience with the latest scientific insights. Through a hands-on curriculum, participants develop expertise on themes such as inclusive development, sustainable supply chains, and climate adaptation. This unique blend of theory and practice enables professionals to think broadly, collaborate effectively, and realise lasting impact—both locally and globally.

Accredited master's for global impact

This one-year, accredited master's programme—formerly known as AMID—has existed since 1998 and is offered by Radboud University, in collaboration with the University of Nairobi. Nearly one hundred organisations, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FrieslandCampina, Oxfam Novib, and Amref Health Africa, have partnered with us.

Who can participate?

For organisations

Does your organisation want to contribute to sustainable change whilst benefiting from fresh insights? There are two ways to take part:

1. Nominate an internal candidate

Strengthen your team by developing employees' systems thinking and strategic skills. This enables them to realise greater impact in an increasingly complex world.

2. Host new talent via matching

Following a careful selection and matching process, we recommend a motivated professional who aligns with your organisation's strategic goals. This brings new talent into your organisation that directly contributes to your ambitions.

Already working on complex, global challenges? Integrate the programme into your current position and strengthen your knowledge, skills, and strategic thinking.

2. Get matched via the programme

Apply and—if selected from a competitive pool—be matched with an organisation that fits your expertise and ambitions. Work directly on impactful projects.

3. Arrange your own placement
