The Radboud Institute for Biological and Environmental Sciences (RIBES) is involved in the biology education at the Faculty of Science of Radboud University. All staff scientists of RIBES have a dual task: besides their research, they have a role as teachers.
The main research subjects are present in the whole curriculum of the Bachelor's Biology. This way, students can experience and learn about all current research projects that take place at the institute. Over the three years of the Bachelor's programme, students can gradually specialise into one of the RIBES research topics.
The Master's specialisations in Biology cover all research topics of RIBES. The specialisations are Adaptive Organisms, Conservation and Restoration Ecology, Microbiology, and Water and Environment. There is also a double degree programme in Transnational ecosystem-based Water Management in collaboration with the University of Duisberg-Essen in Germany.
RIBES employs more than 60 PhD candidates. It is important that each PhD candidate receives ample training, not only in research-specific skills, but also in transitional skills. It is our ambition that each PhD candidate obtains their PhD within 48 months after starting their trajectory. RIBES is committed to provide excellent supervision and support to each candidate from the supervisors and from the RIBES Graduate School.
