CLIL in practice is designed for secondary school or MBO teachers who teach, or are preparing to teach, their subject through English. You will explore the principles of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), try out a wide range of classroom activities, and develop your own CLIL lessons with support from our expert trainers.
In this course you will
- learn about the key principles of CLIL and how to apply them in your own lessons;
- explore the role of language in CLIL - how to develop students’ vocabulary, formulate language goals, support classroom interaction and give feedback on language;
- try out practical, student-centred activities that encourage students to think, speak and collaborate in English;
- adapt your own teaching materials and receive guidance on effective CLIL lesson planning;
- receive feedback on your own classroom English so that you can provide learners with rich language input and model good language-learning behaviour.
Approach
The full foundation course consists of 18 hours of class and 18 hours of self-study. We recommend 6 interactive sessions of 3 hours every 2 to 3 weeks, giving you time to try out ideas in your own classroom between meetings.
