Content and approach
In this interactive workshop, you will reflect on your writing habits and identify your pitfalls. We will take you through the three stages of the writing process (preparing, writing, and revising) and introduce practical strategies for each stage to help you become a more effective writer. As a result, your writing process will become more focused and efficient, and you will know what it takes to produce well-structured, polished texts.

What do you struggle with when writing in English, and what are you good at already? - Effective writing process
You will discover what an ideal writing process looks like. You will analyse your own writing process and discover how to overcome the pitfalls you encounter. - Prepare your text
How to get started? Spoiler: you won’t write a perfect text in one go. It requires a lot of preparation! - Write your text
Using a well-prepared outline, you will learn how you’re able to speed write a good first draft. - Revise your text
Time to revise & perfect! But where to start? And how do you do this if English is not your native language?
What is the outcome of this workshop?
Having completed this workshop, you will:
- be able to start a new writing task with more confidence;
- finish a writing task more efficiently and end up with a structured, polished text;
- be more aware of your writing process and how to overcome your personal pitfalls.
Who is this workshop suitable for?
This workshop is suitable for speakers of English as a foreign language at B2 level or higher. You can participate in this workshop if you write texts in English for personal or work/study-related purposes. Unsure about your current level? Take the online level test.
This workshop is also offered within our 8-week English courses at B2, C1 and C2 levels. Would you like to develop your general English alongside your writing skills? You can enrol in one of our English courses and include this workshop in your personalised programme.

Prefer to work on your writing skills individually or with your team?
Please contact our Tailor-made Department to discuss your needs. During an intake interview, we will determine what is desirable and feasible and we will discuss the approach and design of our offer, from a coaching programme to a short workshop or multi-day course.
A tailor-made course can take place in a small group with your team or department, but also one-on-one. Courses take place at our premises or in-company. In some cases, some or all of the course can also take place online. After the intake interview, you will receive an offer with a tailor-made programme. Radboud University and Radboud university medical center employees can take advantage of an internal rate.
