Content and approach
In this hands-on workshop, you will work with different generative AI tools to revise texts, design practice activities, and simulate real-life communication tasks. You will generate feedback from generative AI and experiment with prompts and adapt them to your own academic or professional goals. Radboud University employees will work only with Copilot Chat in this workshop, in line with RU policy.
What will be covered?
What you will learn:
- AI for writing
Yes, AI can write whole texts for you, but you shouldn’t use it as a ghostwriter. Instead, you can use AI to help you improve your writing, so you develop your English and writing skills. We will teach you how to use AI for this, for instance to generate effective feedback. - AI for practicing
Your teacher isn’t available 24/7, but AI is! You will learn how to use it to generate personalized learning materials and how to practice your English speaking skills with AI. - Responsible AI use
All of the above requires critical AI literacy: how can you use AI to improve your English in a responsible way?
What is the outcome of this workshop?
Having completed this workshop, you will:
- be able to use AI chatbots to guide your language learning;
- be able to write prompts that yield effective feedback, learning materials, and opportunities to practice your English;
- be able to use AI responsibly.
Who is this workshop suitable for?
This workshop is suitable for learners of English as a foreign language at B2 level and higher. You don’t need to have any previous experience with generative AI to join this workshop. Unsure about your current level? Take the online level test.
This workshop is also offered within our 8-week English courses at B2, C1 and C2 levels. Would you like to develop your general English alongside your AI skills? You can enrol in one of our English courses and include this workshop in your personalised programme.

Prefer to work on your English and AI skills individually or with your team?
Please contact our Tailor-made Department to discuss your needs. During an intake interview, we will determine what is desirable and feasible and we will discuss the approach and design of our offer, from a coaching programme to a short workshop or multi-day course.
A tailor-made course can take place in a small group with your team or department, but also one-on-one. Courses take place at our premises or in-company. In some cases, some or all of the course can also take place online. After the intake interview, you will receive an offer with a tailor-made programme. Radboud University and Radboud university medical center employees can take advantage of an internal rate.
