Language course Dutch Sign Language for beginners (A1 part 2)

Do you work with people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, or do you know anyone who is deaf or hard-of-hearing who you would like to learn to communicate better with? The Dutch Sign Language Basic Skills course helps you improve your ability to communicate with people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. You can take part in this course as a follow-up to the Dutch Sign Language A1 part 1 course or if you already have some knowledge of sign language. This course further explores topics already covered in the previous A1 course, and pays more attention to facial expressions and body language.

General

The Dutch Sign Language for beginners course focuses on visual communication. Using expressive facial expressions and the space around you both help to make yourself understood without speech in a range of situations. In this course, you will continue to learn the lexicon and grammar of Dutch Sign Language, the language of the deaf community in the Netherlands.

Target group

This Dutch Sign Language for beginners course is designed for anyone who already has some knowledge of Dutch Sign Language and wants to build a solid foundation.

Level

This course will help you on your way to language level A1.

This course takes place from 8 October until 3 December. There is no class in the week of 19 October because of the autumn break.

Class day and time: Thursdays from 4.00 - 5.30 pm 
Location: On campus in Nijmegen
Number of participants: min. 6 - max. 18

If a lesson is cancelled, the catch-up lesson will take place after the last lesson. You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.
