Language course Russian for beginners (A2)

If you can have a conversation in Russian about personal topics and write simple Russian texts, and you know how to ask and give directions, this Russian A2 course will help you to further develop your knowledge of the language so that you can achieve A2 level.

    General

    Entry level

    This course is the second part of A2-level Russian. In order to participate in this course, we expect you to already have certain knowledge and skills; for example, you should be able to have simple conversations in Russian; for example, you should be able to have a simple conversation in a shop. You should be familiar with ordinal numbers and numerals, and be able to decline nouns and use the imperative.

    If you completed the preceding Russian halfway to A2 course at In’to, you will automatically be able to progress to this course. If you did not complete this particular course, we will invite you to take part in a telephone intake so that we can determine whether this course is appropriate for your language level.

    After completing this Russian language course, you will be able to:

    • have simple, short conversations on personal topics;
    • follow broadly everyday conversations on familiar topics;
    • understand broadly short, simple texts (brochures, advertisements);
    • write short, simple messages or emails.

    The course focuses primarily on verbal communication, as well as reading, listening and writing skills. You will also learn more about Russian culture.

    To receive a Radboud in’to Languages certificate, you need to attend 80% of the classes.

    This course will help you reach language level A2. After completing this course, you can continue with Russian halfway to B1.

    Approach and content 

    Russian is spoken as much as possible during classes, with Dutch as the supporting language. This means you cannot take this course if you do not speak Dutch.

    You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.

    What do the classes cover?

    Skills

    • You will learn to write and understand short, simple messages, emails and advertisements
    • You will learn to talk about your family in detail
    • You will learn to make simple telephone calls
    • You will learn to invite someone to visit, weddings, parties and respond to invitations
    • You will learn to conduct simple dialogues in restaurants, including ordering food and drinks, maintaining conversation at the table

    Grammar

    We cover a range of topics in this Russian A2 course, including:

    • Using the subjunctive
    • Using aspects in the imperative
    • Using adverbs
    • Stages of comparison in adjectives.
