Language course Swedish for very advanced students (C1 conversation)

Can you already have almost fluent and spontaneous conversations on a variety of topics, formulate your opinion in detail, understand the main ideas of complex texts, even on abstract topics? Have you already mastered Swedish grammar? And would you like to take your Swedish language skills to an even higher level? Then take this Swedish C1 course.

    General

    After completing this Swedish language course, you will be able to:

    • Understand long speeches even when not clearly structured and when relationships are only implied and not explicitly stated.
    • Understand television programs and movies without too much effort.
    • Understand long and complex factual and literary texts, and appreciate the use of different styles.
    • Understand specialized articles and long technical instructions, even when they do not relate to your field.
    • Give clear, detailed descriptions of complex topics.
    • Express yourself fluently and spontaneously without noticeably searching for expressions. 
    • Use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes.
    • Write clear, well-structured text, expressing points of view at some length. 
    • Write about complex topics in a letter, an essay or a report, emphasizing the points that are important to me.

    After this course, you will have achieved language level C1.

    This course takes place from 22 January until 19 March 2025. There is no class in the week of 3 March because of the Spring Break. 

    Class day and time: Wednesdays from 7.45 - 9.15 pm.
    Number of participants: min. 6 - max. 16

    The course consists of 8 classes:
    - 3 classes on campus in Nijmegen (class 1, 5 and 8) and
    - 5 online classes via the Virtual Classroom (class 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7)

    Approach and content

    Swedish is spoken as much as possible during classes, with Dutch and English as the supporting languages. This means that in most cases, you can take this course if you do not speak Dutch. Please contact our Service Centre for more information.

    You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.
