General

In this B2 course, you will work with learners of a similar level to build confidence and independence in using English at B2 level. You will receive personal feedback from your teacher at multiple moments during the course. 

The course consists of six lessons, complemented by two skills workshops of your choice:

After this English course, you will be able to:

  • communicate fluently with confidence and actively participate in discussions;
  • give clear and detailed descriptions, express opinions on topical issues and give arguments for and against an issue;
  • understand detailed instructions and explanations, as well as most TV programmes, films and radio broadcasts on familiar topics;
  • read and understand articles, reports and literature that contain complex ideas or arguments, including specific vocabulary in different subject areas.

The six fixed lessons in this course will take place from 14 September to 26 October 2026. The skills workshops are scheduled for the following two weeks, and it is up to you to choose which two you wish to attend. There will be no class during the week of 19 October due to the autumn holiday.

  • Class day and times: Mondays from 6 pm - 8 pm
  • Location: on campus in Nijmegen
  • Number of participants: min. 6 - max. 18

If a lesson is cancelled, it will be rescheduled in the week following the last lesson.

Approach and content

During classes, you will be fully immersed in English. The course focuses on strengthening your ability to understand the main ideas of complex texts and to communicate clearly and effectively in a range of familiar and less familiar situations. You will expand your vocabulary, improve your control of key grammatical structures, and develop greater accuracy and fluency.

Through interactive speaking tasks, you will practice expressing and supporting your opinions, participating in discussions, and explaining ideas in a structured and coherent way. Regular feedback supports your development in accuracy, pronunciation, and overall communicative effectiveness.

The course is supported by a coursebook and self-study materials to consolidate and extend your learning.

Individual study

 You can continue to develop your skills outside classes with our comprehensive teaching materials. You should count on about two to four hours of individual study per week.

  • RU students: € 240,- (60% discount)
  • RU staff Radboudumc: Free of charge (provided that they meet the necessary conditions for Language Policy Courses)

Determine your level with a free test

To determine your level, you will first have to take an online placement test (Oxford Online Placement Test, OOPT). An OOPT score between 60 and 80 or a Cambridge Preliminary certificate (score c or higher) is required to enrol in this English B2 course.

If you have successfully completed a course with us you will receive a certificate of Radboud in'to Languages stating your level.

If you want to get an idea of your level on your own, you can do this using our online level test.

Do you have an OOPT score between 60 and 80 or a Cambridge Preliminary certificate (score c or higher)? Then you can register for the English B2 course - Cambridge First.
