Social Dutch

Interested in learning Dutch for everyday situations in the Netherlands? View the possibilities below. International students and staff members can join our Social Dutch courses free of charge.

Something for you?

  • You would like to familiarise yourself with the Dutch language.
  • You especially want to be able to understand and speak to Dutch people in everyday situations. For example, in the supermarket, in public transport and in shops, bars or restaurants.
  • You want to learn a little Dutch for fun. But, at the moment, you don’t expect Dutch will play a major role in your future.

Join our courses for free

Are you an international student or staff member at Radboud University or the Radboudumc? You can probably follow a Social Dutch course free of charge. The following conditions apply:

  • You can attend a maximum of two Social Dutch courses per student/staff, any additional course must be paid for.
  • You meet the 80% attendance requirement.

Social Dutch I (level 0 - A1)

  • Students socializing in the Refter on campus

    Social Dutch I

    Would you like to be able to speak Dutch to colleagues? Or read labels in the supermarket, ask a shop assistant where you can find a particular item or have a chat with your neighbours? Our Social Dutch I course might be the thing for you.

    Would you like to be able to speak Dutch to colleagues? Or read labels in the supermarket or have a chat with your neighbours? In that case, our intensive winter course Social Dutch I is just the thing for you.

Social Dutch II (level halfway to A1 - A1)

    Are you an expat who wants to be able to speak Dutch to colleagues? Or would you like to continue after Social Dutch I? Then this is the course for you.

Social Dutch IV (level halfway to A2 - A2)

    Did you complete Social Dutch III and would you like to continue learning Dutch? Or do you already speak Dutch well in social situations, but want to further improve your language skills? Then our Social Dutch IV course is just the thing for you.

Social Dutch courses for native speakers of German (level 0 - A2)

Because of the similarities between Dutch and German, these courses go through the learning materials quickly.

    Would you like to be able to speak Dutch to colleagues or friends? Or ask a shop assistant where you can find a particular item or have a basic conversation with your neighbours? Our Social Dutch I course for native German speakers could be for you.

  • Students socializing in the Refter on campus

    Social Dutch II for native speakers of German

    Did you complete Social Dutch I for German speakers and would you like to continue learning Dutch? Or have you already acquired some basic Dutch and would you like to expand your knowledge? This course might be for you.
