English Colloquium Doctum

You will be assessed at VWO (pre-university education) level. The English Colloquium Doctum consists of three parts:

1. A listening test. This is a digital assessment comprised of listening, fill-in and multiple choice questions Duration: 50 minutes

2. A writing test. This test consists of five writing assignments. The writing assignments tie in with the daily training practice. Examples of writing assignments include:

  • writing a complaint email about a test you have taken;
  • writing a research paper based on provided data;
  • expressing an informed opinion on a particular topic.

Duration: 80 minutes.

3. A reading test. This section is comprised of approximately 40 multiple-choice questions on authentic and popular academic texts, divided into four parts:

  • Comprehension questions on short articles that deal with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt a particular perspective.
  • Comprehension questions on longer, popular, scientific articles.
  • A short academic or semi-academic text with several substantive words missing that are questioned through multiple-choice items.

Date

The next assessment will take place in 2025. Exact dates are to be announced.
